Treacherous winter conditions cause equine event chaos

Posted on | 0 Responses

As Scotland and Northern Ireland are forecast for a second week of snow, many horse events are cancelled due snow and freezing conditions. The race at Musselburgh was due to go ahead today, but it has been cancelled on Friday as the course was already covered by 23cm of snow and further snow is expected today. The meeting at Hexham was scheduled for this Wednesday, however this has also been cancelled due to the snow and the -14C temperatures. There have been other equine event cancellations over the weekend and as the snow is yet to continue in the Northern regions, other racing events and competitions may have to follow suit.
