Stocky not stuck

Mayflower, a pure bred 12 year old Shetland pony has been causing a commotion, as people believe she’s stuck in the mud and have been calling the fire services. The emergency services have rushed to the scene over four times this year, to find the twelve year old Shetland trotting about the field.
Mayflower’s owner Sandra Whitaker is contemplating putting up a sign outside the field in Southampton. “People are always saying that she has got stuck in the mud. The only problem with putting up a sign is that one day she might actually get stuck and then the fire brigade won’t turn up.”
The government has estimated that a false alarm of this nature will cost the government £1970 per incident. The Fire brigade animal rescue expert, Anton Phillips said, “From 200 yards way it does look like a pony is trapped in the mud, especially when it is standing nest to the New Forest ponies which area bout twice as tall.”
