Queen goes riding with Edward’s children
The Queen looked every inch the proud grandmother as she relaxed on a pony ride with Lady Louise Windsor and her brother James, Viscount Severn.
A touching family snapshot showed the 85 year old monarch on her small black pony amid the bluebells in Windsor Great Park on Easter Monday.
Her Majesty has been a passionate rider since childhood and despite repeated calls from safety campaigners for her to wear a helmet; she is still stubbornly sporting her famous knotted headscarf.
She was leading three year old James on a rein but Louise clearly inherited her grandmother’s confidence and was more than in control of her own horse.
The Queen was dressed in white jodhpurs, brown riding boots and a tweed hacking jacket.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman said ‘The Queen thought it was a particularly lovely photograph and gave her permission for it to be released.’
