Pregnant horse rescued in Doncaster
Firefighters and the technical rescue unit rushed to the rescue of a pregnant horse that got trapped overnight in a seven foot trench at a farm in Doncaster. They arrived at the scene of the incident at 7.30am on Thursday morning and found Izzy, the 11-year-old Shire horse in a cess pit unable to jump out. She was lifted to safety by the use of a special heavy animal lifting apparatus, but needed to be sedated by a vet to avoid any further distress to the horse. The crew left the scene by 10am and the rescue was successful with the horse seemingly unharmed by its ordeal. The owners of the horse were very thankful to the team as they did an outstanding job!
