Horse falls through floor of trailer
11 August 2011 | 0 Responses
17 year old horse Frankie fell through the plywood floor of his trailer whilst his owner was driving to the Milton Keynes Eventing Centre. When stopped, it was found that the wooden floor had given way and Frankie was on the other side of the trailer.
Owner Sarah Smith said: He had scrape marks on the front of his hoof, his near hind bandage was coming off and he had two large lacerations. You could see the fetlock joint.’ The partition in the trailer had been removed so thankfully Frankie could move away from the hole. Otherwise, Sarah thinks that Frankie may have been much more badly injured.
‘Frankie had a two-and-a-half-hours’ surgery – one laceration had lost so much skin that they couldn’t suture it, and it is in a foot-to-hock cast.’
