Everyone ‘wants a shot’ at Frankel
Frankel’s training team are expecting their unbeaten colt to face a field determined to ruin what is supposed to his last ever race.
The four-year-old is rated as the best horse in the world and has a perfect record of 13 wins from the same number of starts.
He delighted the Newmarket crowds over the weekend with a workout and gallop ahead of this month’s Champions Stakes at Ascot.
The training routine before the Cambridgeshire Day card saw Frankel gallop with stable companions Specific Gravity and half brother Bullet Train over nine furlongs.
Race manager for the horse’s owner Prince Khalid Abdullah told BBC Look East that although the final decision hasn’t been made, it is unlikely that Frankel will race after his visit to Ascot.
“Every race he goes to he’s got to be on top form. Everyone wants to have a shot at the champ,” the manager added.
