Carpenter’s chisel used to trim donkeys’ feet

Posted on | 0 Responses

Two stallion donkeys were found with damaged feet as their previous owner used a chisel to trim their feet. The two donkeys are now recovering at The Donkey Sanctuary in Derbyshire after the RSPCA collected them from their owner in North Wales. The owner was advised months ago by RSPCA inspectors to have a farrier tend to the donkeys, but instead the owner attempted farriery himself and caused much damage to the already neglected

Chris Pile, the manager of the Derbyshire centre said: ‘Sadly, these donkeys have experienced years of neglect and are seriously underweight. That, coupled with the dreadful injuries that have been inflicted upon their feet, means that it is going to take a great deal of professional care to bring these lovely animals back to full health. Despite all they have experienced, both donkeys have lovely natures and are learning to trust humans again.’
