Author supports campaign to end equine suffering
Bestselling author Jilly Cooper has put her weight behind the World Horse Welfare’s campaign to get the European Commission (EC) to introduce maximum journey limits for equines.
It has previously pleaded with the EC to introduce legislation that will see horses transported over much shorter distances in mainland Europe.
Ms Cooper is now backing the equine charity’s campaign, which is asking members of the public to write to their MEPs before the important vote on the matter this autumn.
Chief executive of the charity Roly Owers said it is delighted to have someone of the stature of Jilly Cooper on board.
Ms Cooper said the World Horse Welfare is doing a wonderful job in campaigning against cruel, long-distance transportation of horses across Europe.
“It breaks my heart to think of the indiscriminate suffering inflicted on horses, ponies and donkeys every day. That’s why I give my whole-hearted support to World Horse Welfare’s campaign,” she continued.
