Appleby Horse Fair 2010
Appleby Horse Fair in Cumbria held every June is one of the oldest and biggest horse fairs in Britain. The fair began during the reign of James II in 1685 and since then has attracted around ten thousand annually. The fair is a big event for Gypsies,Travellers and horse traders. Not only do visitors buy and sell horses and ponies but they have the each year to meet with old friends, relations, buy and sell horses and celebrate their music, history and folklore. Another thirty thousand people visit the fair during the week.
Besides the horse trading you can also find fortune tellers, palm readers and horse merchandise on sale.
Applyby horse fair runs from Thursday 3 June to Wednesday 9 June 2010.
