Top US actor in fight against horse deaths
Robert Redford, star of the Horse Whisperer and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, has joined forces with horse protection agencies.
He has announced the grand opening of Foundation to Protect New Mexico Wildlife which will campaign against horse slaughter houses in the USA on August 5th.
The celebrity is well known for his philanthropic acts and hopes to to promote equine well-being and raise awareness of poor treatment.
A lover of horses, Redford has starred in popular Westerns and worked closely with the animals on many an occasion. He spoke passionately about his cause: "Horse slaughter has no place in our culture. It is cruel, inhumane, and perpetuates abuse and neglect of these beloved animals."
With the support of The Humane Society of the United States, the movement hopes for a positive outcome.
Good luck to the campaign, which hopes to keep slaughter houses closed after they were shut down six years ago.
