Sprinter Sacre surges home in Tingle Creek Chase
Sprinter Sacre continued his rise in the sport with a thrilling 15-length victory in the Tingle Creek Chase to extend his unbeaten run over fences.
The 4-11 odds-on favourite surged past front runner Sanctuaire with three fences to go and never looked in any trouble thereafter.
He is now favourite for the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
The six-year-old was a seven-length winner in the Arkle Chase at Cheltenham this year and his trainer Nicky Henderson admitted his charge has the "wow factor".
"I knew that I had something a bit special and I just wanted it to stay that way. That's as good a two-mile chase as you'll ever see," the trainer said after the race.
BBC Sport racing correspondent Cornelius Lysaght said in his company blog that Sprinter Sacre's rise could go some way to replacing the two stars of racing – Frankel and Kauto Star – who were both retired earlier this year.
