Pony Club Manual of Horsemanship updated

The Pony Club's Manual of Horsemanship has undergone its biggest overhaul for over a decade in order to help provide expert advice to equine insurance customers from farriers, vets and nutritionists.

Into its 14th version, the book will be launched at the London International Horse Show at Olympia from December 13th to 19th. There have been major updates to the Bridle, additional Saddlery, Shoeing and Worm Control chapters.

Pony Club's Nikki Herbert said the guide has a new look and the riding section covers a greater detail of the requirements of the paces, training scale and lateral movements that are required to aid the development of ponies.

"The improved content will benefit test candidates at all levels. The addition of an extensive glossary of terms is an essential aid for interpreting comments from dressage sheets," she added.

Earlier this week, Irish showjumper Denis Lynch visited a horse rescue centre in Mallow, Cork, in order to check that the money he managed to raise for the welfare of horses in the country was being put to good use.
