Peerless Frankel wins 13th race in a row
The unbeaten Frankel enhanced his reputation as one of the greatest horses ever yet more with a brilliant victory in the Juddmonte International at York.
His victory takes Sir Henry Cecil's charge to 13 victories out of 13 races.
It was the first time that the horse had raced over the mile mark and some had questioned whether he would have the legs to stay over ten furlongs but he powered to the front and stayed to win by seven lengths.
This victory is a record eight consecutive Group One race win.
Frankel has now surpassed Rock of Gibraltar's mark of seven Group One triumphs in a row.
Cecil, who has battled stomach cancer since 2006, managed to get to York to see his prized asset extend the perfect victory.
"It's fantastic and it's great for Yorkshire, they're very supportive of racing and deserve to see him. [It helped me feel] 20 years better," he said after the race.
