Paul Hanagan to replace Richard Hills
Since Richard Hills announced earlier this month that he would be retiring at the end of the season, horse insurance customers across the country have been wondering who would replace him as the retained rider for Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.
That man is to be two-time champion jockey Paul Hanagan and he will take over the reigns when Hills retires on Dubai World Cup night on March 31st.
Racing manager to Sheikh Hamdan Angus Gold paid tribute to the work that Richard Hills has done to contribute to the success of Shadwell horses in the last 20 years and he hopes he can have the same impact as a non-rider with the team.
"Having been such an integral part of the very successful Richard Fahey team for so long, I know that Paul will be a tremendous asset," Mr Gold was reported as saying.
During his time riding for the Sheikh, Hills saddled five British Classic winners.
