Horse enthusiasts in Ireland will be able to tune in to a new online TV channel dedicated entirely to equestrian-themed events as of next month.

Irish Horse TV is to be run by Kildare TV and will feature the best of jump racing, showjumping, eventing, dressage and much more, Horse and Hound reports.

Managing director Len Regan said work has been taking place in preparation for the February 5th launch for two years, with part of the funding provided by the Royal Dublin Society and The Irish National Stud.

"The channel will deliver a wide range of programmes to promote Ireland's image as the Land of the Horse," he added.

Many viewers may be encouraged to tune in following the high profile of equestrian events at the London 2012 Olympics.

Some could even be dreaming of appearing onscreen themselves, after dressage champion Carl Hester told the BBC that any child could aspire to similar success with the right opportunities, dedication and hard work.
