Jodie Kidd leads calls for polo Olympic return
Former supermodel and keen polo player Jodie Kidd has called on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to reinstate the sport on to the Olympic calendar as soon as possible.
Speaking at the launch of Mint Polo In The Park 2012 at Hurlingham Park, Ms Kidd said it is one of the most exciting and competitive sports on the planet and doesn't get the respect it deserves.
Great Britain last won a gold in the sport at the 1908 London Olympics but it hasn't been featured on a calendar since the 1936 Berlin Olympics after being overlooked at the 1948 "Austerity Games".
Currently the Olympics holds the Eventing, Dressage and Jumping categories of horse riding, which last for a combined 12 days.
"With the Olympics coming to London this summer, I am asking the International Olympic Committee to reinstate polo as an Olympic sport, for the benefit of players and spectators alike," she commented.
