Imperial Commander to make return
The former Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Imperial Commander could be set for a return to racing this November following a long injury layoff.
He could be back for November's Betfair Chase after experiencing a large portion of bad luck with a number of injuries.
The 11-year-old won the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2010 but burst a blood vessel when attempting to defend his crown the following year – eventually being defeated by Sam Waley-Cohen's ride Long Run.
Six months later, he then tore a tendon in his foreleg when in pre-training following the injury in the 2011 Gold Cup.
Ian Robinson, from the horse's owning syndicate, said that all being well his charge will start off in the Betfair Chase, which is being held at Haydock on November 24th.
"Imperial Commander is making good progress to the extent that he will start to canter early next week," he added.
