Hat tags to be made compulsory
Competitive horse insurance quotes take a lot of rules and regulations into account – whatever the sport concerned.
Next season, the considerations for Team Chasing will change.
Team chasers will be required to wear hat tags during the next competition season following the introduction of new safety rules.
Just last year, the rules of Team Chasing were modified so that riders were forced to wear Beta level 3 body protectors and crash helmets.
Tags have become the next safety measure to be introduced.
"There have been no rule changes, but we have upgraded them to state that riders must have tags on hats [to indicate they comply with current safety standards]," Team Chasing committee chairman James Buckle told Horse and Hound.
He noted that a British Eventing safety tag was sufficient for riders and tags will be made available to competitors at events.
Team Chasing was invented in 1974 by Master of Hickstead Douglas Bunn.
The original Team Chase was broadcast live on BBC television on Good Friday in 1974. It continued to be held on Good Friday for eight years until it was replaced by a Whitsun meet.
