A blazing fire broke out at racehorse trainer Luca Cumani's stables that are based in Newmarket, Suffolk.

More than 30 firefighters were called to tackle the blaze that broke out at Bedford House after it begun at about 10:30 BST on Monday (September 3rd).

Stable hands are said to have spotted the fire and led the horses to safety to ensure that no animals or people were hurt in the blaze.

Highly thought of Melbourne Cup runners Mount Athos and Quest For Peace are among the beasts that are in the care of Mr Cumani, who has owned these stables in the Suffolk area for more than 35 years.

The fire is thought to have begun in the roof of the 30m long stable block.

"There was no drama or trauma, the fire services responded very promptly. We've just lost a section of the roof," Mr Cumani told the Guardian.
