Festival rider suffers injuries
A rider suffered serious injuries when she was thrown from her horse while taking part in a festival in Dumfries, Scotland.
The unnamed woman was taken to hospital for emergency treatment on her head injuries after the incident, which occurred during the Guid Nychburris celebrations last weekend (June 15th), the Herald reports.
She was taking part in the 'Chases' event having earlier ridden in the marches at the start of the day and a spokesman for Guid Nychburris said she was "badly hurt"
"We can only hope that she recovers quickly and our best wishes go out to her," he told the newspaper.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident, which has highlighted the importance of always taking care when riding, even if you are an experienced rider. It is not known whether the woman was wearing appropriate safety equipment, but doing so can help reduce the risk of injury if you are thrown from your horse.
