Do research before booking horse riding lessons
Parents are being encouraged to think about child safety when it comes to booking horse riding lessons.
While many youngsters – especially girls – dream of having their own pony, this activity should not be taken lightly and thorough research needs to be carried out before attending a centre.
With the school holiday season still in full flow, this issue may be particularly pertinent as mums and dads seek to keep their kids entertained.
This is why the East Riding of Yorkshire Licensing Authority is looking to draw attention to the importance of using licensed riding schools.
Councillor Jackie Cracknell, cabinet portfolio holder for community involvement and performance, warned parents that even the most tranquil horse can still be startled and cause the rider injuries.
"Customer safety is paramount and riders are urged to check riding schools' credentials to ensure safety standards are met when booking lessons for you or your children," she added.
