Clifford Baker has been named as the employee of the year at the eighth annual Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards ceremony, which took place at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel in London.
Hundreds of equine insurance customers in attendance saw the Head Lad, employed by Paul Nicholls, presented with the perpetual Godolphin Trophy and a cheque for £25,000, £10,000 of which will be shared among the staff at Nicholls' yard.
Chairman of the panel Brough Scott said Baker's career has been a magnificent example of how staff play a major role in any trainer's success, especially with the close work he continues to do with Kauto Star.
Dual champion flat jockey Paul Hanagan, who presented the awards, added: "Jockeys know more than most the level of dedication demonstrated everyday by Stable Staff, and it is a real privilege to spend time with them, and to be able to acknowledge everything they do."
Awarding this prize will be one of the last commitments Hanagan has before taking the place of Richard Hills as retained rider for Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum at the end of March.
