Claire Lomas plans to cycle from London to Paris
Paralysed eventer Claire Lomas has announced her intention to cycle from London to Paris for charity.
Ms Lomas only completed the London Marathon in a robotic suit earlier this month and yet she is still planning for her next big challenge.
The 32-year-old was left paralysed after a fall at the Osberton Horse Trials in 2007 but she hopes to cycle the distance using a bike powered by her legs and arms.
Ms Lomas already trains on a static version of the bike she hopes to use for the trip.
The Functional Electrical Stimulation bicycle delivers an electric current to the muscles in her legs, which make them contract in a pattern that controls it.
She told Horse and Hound that she was looking forward to getting some fresh air on the bike.
"After the marathon Dan [her husband] and I asked 'what shall we do next?' We are still in the very early stages of planning, trying to find all the right equipment," she added.
