Claire Lomas continues London Marathon course
23 April 2012 | 0 Responses
As most runners that took part in yesterday's (April 22nd) London Marathon take a well-earned rest today, former eventer Claire Lomas continues her bid to finish the course.
Ms Lomas was paralysed in a cross-country accident at Osberton in 2007 and is walking the marathon in a robotic suit.
Yesterday, she completed 2.25 miles of the 26.2-mile course and at 10:00 BST today she picked up where she left off.
Ms Lomas is expected to walk for more than two weeks and this morning tweeted: "Day 2. Not too sore. Weather looks bad though…still can't believe yesterday – surreal. Nearly cry every time think about it!"
She was joined at the end of her first day by Olympic rower Sir Matthew Pinsent, which she stated really gave her a boost.
Ms Lomas is hoping to raise £50,000 for Spinal Research and this morning she was closing in on the £18,000 mark.
