Civil Service Riding Club opens doors to new members
The Civil Service Riding Club is opening its doors to members from other professions for the first time in its existence.
This club offers affordable riding in London and the south-east, with a strong emphasis on horsemanship.
It has a long association with Hyde Park and helped to fund the outdoor arena used by the Household Cavalry.
Members also regularly ride in Hyde Park as a result and at riding schools in around the London and Windsor areas.
Spokesman for the group Nancy Lyndhurst told Horse and Hound the club works hard to try to get people riding well.
It is the first time in the club's 75-year history that it has allowed people from other sectors to join.
Ms Lyndhurst added: "The Civil Service Sports Council has changed its rules and public sector workers can now invite four friends or family. Because we subsidise the riding, members have a good instruction at an affordable price."
