Celebrate Olympics carefully
23 July 2012 | 0 Responses
Excitement up and down the country for the forthcoming Olympics is set to hit fever pitch in the coming days but people are being warned to celebrate carefully.
The British Horse Society (BHS) said people must be careful of having a celebration that could unlawfully harm animals.
Things such as Chinese lanterns, fireworks and car decorations should be avoided if anywhere in the vicinity of horses.
Fireworks and lanterns are obvious concerns but people may not be immediately aware why they should be avoided. It is because these decorations in the wind could startle oncoming horses.
Preparations for people's celebrations are likely to be well underway with the opening ceremony for the prestigious competition taking place this coming Friday (July 27th).
Senior safety executive at the BHS Sheila Hardy said the charity is as excited as anyone for the Games and hopes these warnings are listened to.
"However, abiding by these simple measures could make the world of difference for our four-legged-friends," she was quoted as saying.
