Bride chooses thoroughbred horse as bridesmaid

Posted on | 0 Responses

A bride from Nottingham who wanted her horse to be an integral part of her wedding day celebrations chose the thoroughbred as one of her bridesmaids.

Toffee was decked out in purple just like her human counterpart Lianna Bourne for the marriage of owner Alex Wells to Graham Sales.

The 17-year-old mare, who Ms Wells describes as one of the family, is so important to her that she asked her permission to get married after Mr Sales proposed.

He is under no allusions as to the pecking order when it comes to his new wife and her horse and said: "Alex goes to see Toffee twice a day and will spend weekends with her, so I am always competing with her for attention."

The Reverend David Anderton, who conducted the wedding ceremony, said that in ten years of marrying couples he had never known anyone to have an equine bridesmaid.
