Blue Cross remembers war horses

Posted on | 0 Responses

Animal charity The Blue Cross is paying tribute to real war horses in a new online archive in order to coincide with the release of the Steven Spielberg film.

Equine insurance subscribers will be able to access the archives for the first time to reveal the real-life stories of horses involved in the First World War.

The War Horse collection is full of photographs, artefacts and audio-visual materials for people to get a good grasp of what it was like for horses on the battlefield. There will also be letters from soldiers in the archive and photographs of Blue Cross vets treating equines on the frontline.

"As a tribute to all the real-life war horses, we decided to open up our archives to share some of the amazing stories and pictures of these extraordinary animals," The Blue Cross' Steve Goody said.

Steven Spielberg's eagerly-anticipated film War Horse is due to be released on January 13th in the UK.
