BHS presented with royal award
The British Horse Society (BHS) has been recognised by the Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards for its Horse Accidents website.
Each year awards are handed out to recognise achievements and innovations that have improved road safety. The BHS's interactive website is designed to make the reporting of road traffic accidents involving horse insurance customers and their equines easy and accessible.
BHS senior executive for safety Sheila Hardy said the organisation was delighted to have received the award and the recognition that comes with it. The website saw reporting levels rise by 282 per cent in its first eight months when compared with the previous system.
"This one is probably the most special [Prince Michael award] as it shows the Society has successfully brought its accident reporting process into the 21st century,” she added.
Every year the BHS hosts its own safety awards ceremony which are named after Sefton, the cavalry horse that survived the IRA bombings in London in 1982.
