The British Equine Federation (BEF) celebrated an historic year in 2012 by honouring the most successful riders, presenting them with BEF Medals of Honour.

Eight individuals who have shown outstanding achievement and contribution to the international scene were awarded at The London International Horse Show at Olympia.

Showjumpers Scott Brash, Peter Charles and Ben Maher, vaulter Andrew McLachlan and eventer Zara Phillips were all handed medals for their brilliant achievements.

Performance director Will Connell, British Paralympic team coach Michel Assouline and LOCOG sport competition for equestrian events at London 2012 Tim Hadaway were also given gongs for their outstanding "behind the scenes" roles.

The medals were presented by the BEF chairman Keith Taylor.

Unfortunately Tim Hadaway and Zara Phillips were not able to attend on the night and so will be presented with their awards at a later date.

These awards come after the Team GB Olympic and Paralympic equestrian riders enjoyed their most successful Games ever with medals of all colour awarded.
