BEF launches new scheme to encourage riding
In the lead up to the Olympics, the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) has launched its new Hoof campaign to try and convince more people to take out horse riding insurance and try the sport as a hobby.
The launch website – www.hoofride.co.uk – is designed to encourage everyone to get more involved in the sport, from non-riders to lapsed riders or current competitors.
As well as encouragement, the website will provide information on issues such as volunteering, coaching or ownership, as well as what attire is best to wear when riding.
Andrew Finding of the BEF said of the scheme: "It's important our legacy is seen to be broadly based and for the benefit of our industry as a whole."
Take Back the Reins is the first of the Hoof projects to be launched, which involves a series of weekly riding lessons designed to support riders through their early steps towards regular horse riding.
It is hoped that this scheme will help achieve a last Olympic legacy.
