24hr horse ride raises funds for cancer charity
Members of a local fundraising group hosted a 24-hour horse riding event to raise money for Breast Cancer Research.
The event organised by Bethan's Pink Ladies took place across Friday and Saturday (September 287th and 28th), according to Oxford Mail.
It is being held in honor of the group's friend Bethan Reading, who died earlier this year, and has raised more than £15,000 so far.
Her sister Anna Reading said: "Horses were a part of Beth's life and after the event was suggested to us, we knew we wanted to be involved."
The occasion saw 12 teams riding for two hours each – with two riders opting to ride for the full 24 hours on different steeds across the day-long period – around locations surrounding Bicester such as Launton, Steeple Claydon, Winslow and Buckingham. A pink baton was passed along at checkpoints to mark progress.
A stall was also set up in Buckingham town centre to help spread information on the fundraising occasion.
